Bazetta Township is accepting applications for the position of Chief of Fire & EMS.

Bazetta Township is a well-established growing community with an emerging business growth and residential areas. Bazetta Township is a community with a population of 6,306 in 2000. Bazetta is located directly in the center of Trumbull County. The major feature of the township is Mosquito Creek Lake State Park and Reservoir, which divides the township in half. The major roadways of the township are State Route 305, State Route 46, and State Route 5.Bazetta Township Fire & EMS staffs 4 on-duty personnel utilizing 9 career and 15 part-paid members offering a full range of fire protection, EMS, and water rescue services with a strong commitment to customer service. The Township is 21 square miles with a day time population increase to 15,000 to 20,000 daily.

The Chief reports directly to the Bazetta Township Trustee’s. This highly visible position requires an energetic, motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster a strong team and collaborative oriented environment. Successful applicants will have experience in strategic planning and possess a broad background in all aspects of service delivery. The applicant should have experience working in a combination department that provides EMS to its citizens.

Requirements include 10 years of fulltime firefighting experience including documented supervisory experience as fire command officer and the following State of Ohio certifications: Firefighter II, EMT-P, Certified Fire Safety Inspector, and a valid Ohio operator’s license. An associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Fire Science or related field is desired. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Public Administration is preferred. Applicants who have completed Fire Officer I and II training are preferred. Completion of the Ohio Fire Executive Program (OFE) or Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) is also desired.

The successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings including physical examination and drug screening. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000, DOQ and experience, and includes a comprehensive benefit package.
